I get the same message on labeling LTO tapes using Networker 6.1.2 on
Solaris 9. I don't think it indicates any problem. Just basically
happens because it can't find a label on the tape. I ignore those
messages.

Can't help with the labeling time issue though. My LTO tapes label
within a couple of minutes.

Hola.

Upon labeling a tape, the following error shows up in the logs:

nsrd: media warning: /dev/rmt/0cbn opening: I/O error

The labeling process can take anywhere from 15 minutes to 30 minutes.
I'm
assuming that error has something to do with the long wait.

Weird thing is, this error message only appears during labeling a tape.
All
backups/restores don't report this message and run smoothly. I've
physically
checked all the cables and everything is connected very securely. I
would
think though, if it was a cable issue than backups/restores would have
the
same problem.

Any ideas?

Gracias,

-Matt
