Are you keeping the DLT8000 and the DLT7000 tapes is separate pools?  When
the DLT drive goes through its "calibration" pass, if the tape was written
with a different number of tracks it sets the "cleaning required" light, as
it sees what it thinks are excessive errors.

We see the same thing moving tapes between DLT4000 and DLT7000
drives.  Once the tape has been labeled at the new density, the next time
it is mounted the light will go out.  So keep the tapes segregated, or turn
off autoclean.
