Perhaps I misunderstand Networker's capabilities.

I created node1, node2, vnode1 & vnode2 like you described. Then I put "All"
in the saveset field for each. I expect Legato to figure out that node1 is a
physical node and automatically figure out which volumes are private to that
node and backup only those private volumes for node1. Same for the others.

I'd prefer to avoid having to specify volumes in the saveset field. That way
when new volumes are added to the server I don't have to worry about the
admin forgetting to update the saveset field.

Am I incorrect in my understanding of Networker's cluster support?

Hi,

if i configure a ms cluster with legato i do it this way:

node1: saveset lokal devices like c: d: and system state and so on
node2: saveset lokal devices like c: d: and system state and so on
vnode1: virtuell devices like s:
vnode2: virtuell devices like t:

on this way and with the additionell w2k patch all works normaly fine

Regards
Clemens

I should have mentioned that I already have this hotfix installed over W2K
SP2. I also tried a workaround from Hrvoje Crvelin which was to put the
physical & virtual IPs into the local hosts file which also didn't work.

There is a bug in the gethostbyname/gethostbyaddr calls in a MSCS
environment.

Win2K SP3 includes the fix. Win2K SP2 and earlier have a hotfix available
from Microsoft - Q265017.

Server: Tru64 5.0A with Networker 6.0.3
Client: 2 node Windows 2000 Adv Svr SP2 MSCS cluster with Networker 6.1.2

Cluster consists of two physical nodes: node1 & node2
and two virtual nodes: virtual1 & virtual2

node1 has 3 private (non-clustered) volumes: C:, D: & E:
node2 has same

one of the shared volumes, S:, is assigned to virtual1 and
the other shared volume, T:, is assigned to virtual2

virtual1 & virtual2 both reside on node1

I've setup networker clients for node1, node2, virtual1 & virtual2 with
"All" as the saveset.

>From my reading of the manual I expect to have node1 & node2 both backup C:,

D:, E: & SYSTEM STATE: and virtual1 backup S: and virtual2 backup T:.

Instead node1 backs up C:, D:, E: AND S:, T:. Even worse virtual1 backs up
all of the same volumes.

It looks like Networker can't distinguish between private and shared
volumes. Can anyone help?
