That's how I actually did some of my installs, manually putting in the
addresses of the robot and the drives.
However, I think it is something with Solaris 8. On a comparable box running
Solaris 2.6, everything is fast - inquire, bus queries, DDS/SmartMedia
startup, etc. Trussing the DCP, nsrjb, jbconfig or nsrmmd processes yield:
6208: open("/devices/pseudo/devinfo@0:devinfo", O_RDONLY) = x
6208: ioctl(x, 0xDF82, 0x00000000) = 57311
I've already done a number of tweaks to lus.conf ... to no avail. Sunsolve
mentions a similar bug (:4522069):
