There's more to it than that. Modifying the database will not bring back
data that has already been deleted from the client index. That is why
scanner is necessary in this case.

I do agree with your point about tools to modify the media DB though. These
are the sort of tools that you should expect from a mature product. About
the only tool that does this so far is mmlocate, a few more variations
would be good, or better still something quite generic that would give you
enough rope...
