Hi Deb,

The most likely problem is that the "leader" of the 2 faulted drives are
loose. If the drive is not in service, you can open it up and re-string
the leader yourself, provided it is not damaged.

I have this problem occurs a few times for me. The tape drive's leader
will latch to the "lead" from the tape and pull it into the spool. If the
"lead" from the tape is damaged, the tape drive's leader does not latch
and becomes loose. When this happens, all the lights on the right side
will flash.

Good luck,

Thien Nguyen

I've inherited and L1000 with 4 dlt8000 drives, 2 of which have all the
lights on the right side flashing. How do I reset the drive hardware to
a quiescent state? Nothing I do seems to work...

Thanks,

deb
