First of all also there are some notifications at your successful save sets
like,
"This data set is in use and cannot be accessed at
this time."
As written in technical dialog the notification above is given to some
queues like print queue.
-What is the networker version of your novell clients? What is the Novell
version  and Service Pack version
of your Novell clients. Are you taking open file backup with snapshot.nlm?
If you are working with Novell 5.1 you could install TSA5up9 as Novell and
Legato recommends.
Also is there any firewall between your backup server and client?

Lastly at NDS rights maybe you could check your backup user's rights for
the volume VOL1

Subject: [Networker] weird NetWare Client Problem

Greetings,

I'm having a strange problem with a couple of my NetWare Clients.
I haven't gotten a good full of this server in a while.
The weird thing is I can get the SYS volume but not VOL1.

Here is the error -

--- Unsuccessful Save Sets ---

* hprefs1:VOL1: 1 retry attempted
* hprefs1:VOL1: RPC error, Unknown protocol
* hprefs1:VOL1: Cannot access nsr server legato2
* hprefs1:Server Specific Info 1 retry attempted
* hprefs1:Server Specific Info RPC error, Unknown protocol
* hprefs1:Server Specific Info Cannot access nsr server legato2

--- Successful Save Sets ---

* hprefs1:SYS: Wed Sep 11 20:00:09 2002: rcmdsrv nlm
* hprefs1:SYS: Cannot open rpc user or group file
* hprefs1:SYS: Wed Sep 11 20:01:30 2002: rcmdsrv nlm
* hprefs1:SYS: Cannot open rpc user or group file
* hprefs1:SYS: (2001) SYS:SYSTEM/CCA60000.QDR/Q_A6CC.SYS
(TSA500.NLM 5.5 266) This data set is in use and cannot be accessed at
this time.
* hprefs1:SYS: (2001) SYS:SYSTEM/CCA60000.QDR/Q_A6CC.SRV
(TSA500.NLM 5.5 266) This data set is in use and cannot be accessed at
this time.
  hprefs1: SYS:                     level=full, 1809581 KB 00:15:06
24643 files
  legato2: index:hprefs1            level=full,     59 MB 00:00:40
106 files

Any Netware folks want to offer advice or suggestions?

The actual Legato Server is running
Version: Solstice Backup 6.1.1.Build.238 Power/410

Though I strongly doubt that has anything to do with it as we are
backing up several other NetWare 5 clients without this error.

Many Thanks!

Paul
