John,

In addition of useful Scott's reply, check also if the OS can correctly
be backuped. Experience tell me you could have host file/DNS resolution
problem pointing to a different client the expected one or causing name
resolution error.

Check also if you filled some backup server names in the
..\nsr\res\servers file
that all of these names can be correctly reverse lookuped.

Probing the OS client only, does it work or are you receiving
error such "savegrp exited with satus 9, permission denied" ?

HTH,

Thierry

Hello John,

>From this terse description, it is difficult to tell what might be
failing.
Here are some general suggestions:

. Make a manual save work first -- it is easier, a subset of a scheduled
save.

. For the scheduled save, make sure that you have followed all of the
instructions in the Admin Guide.

. If none of that helps, post us a more complete error description. The
most useful is on the Exchange Server, in file
...\nsr\applogs\nsrxchsv.log.

Hope that this helps,
_Scott

Have just purchased Module for Exchange Server and am trying to set it
up.
Running Networker 6.2 as server on a Windows 2000 Server SP2 box.
Running Exchange 2000 SP2 also on a Windows 2000 Server SP2 box with
Module
for Exchange Server installed.
I can't get a scheduled backup from the Networker Server to the Exchange
client to work.
I get a 'Connection refused' message and little else.
Suspect I have Remote Access setup incorrect.
Have tried various combinations eg nothing, *@*, specific usernames from
Domain Admins group.
Any clues?
Thanks
John

We currently backup 9 Exchange servers with the BSM and so far, we are
very
happy with it. Backups have been consistently successful, and although
restores take some time, they have been successful every time we have
attempted one. We currently backup the Directory and Information Stores
but
have not tried backing up individual mailboxes.

We are looking at switching from lotus notes to exchange for our mail
servers. (yuck, I know.)
My question is more of a survey...
For the people that are using exchange and legato, what works well and
what
doesn't? Do you have to use the BSM to back up the data?
Here, we have the lotus notes BSM, although, I would be lying if I said
I
was happy with it.

Any thoughts from either side would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
