This is not the same problem.  This one usually occurs when backing up 
a mailstore database containing mailboxes that have never been logged 
into after they were created or if it just contains the
system-mailboxes.
But I'm not sure if this is the case for You.  Still, not related to 
original problem.

Try following.  Make first backup of MSEXCH:DS.  If it goes OK, then
change
saveset to MSEXCH:IS and see if You get an error message.  Also, try
to see if -D9 switch works with backup command (not sure if it exists)
to gather more information about the error messages.  After that, search
MS Knowledgebase for them and that should give You some answers.
