For Windows, in the User Gui, at the top after you clicked on the recover
button, choose options->recover options.  One of the choices is rename
recovered files.  Choose it. It doesn't give you a choice of what to name
it, but instead, adds a ~ to any conflicting file. There are other options
that may be useful in your situation as well.

For Unix, using nwrecover,  the process is similiar.
