This is old but still relevant: http://www.bacula.org/5.2.x-manuals/en/main/main/Installing_Configuring_MySQ.html

hi all; I'm new to bacula, so forgive me if I'm asking a dumb question, but..
I read carefully (or so I thought) thru the main reference document ("main.pdf"), built everything from source (with no problems), and installed into /opt/bacula (doing this on centos 7, fyi).
I've read the section on critical items to implement, as well as the brief tutorial.
I start things as directed with the command:
./bacula start
and the processes start up as expected.
the next step says to run the command:
./bconsole
which just comes back to a command prompt.
after lots of head-scratching, I stumbled across some log information, telling me that the mysql connection failed. well I can see why it failed - it was never setup.
doing a quick google search, I discovered that there are shell scripts with names like "create_mysql_database", which I'm assuming I need to run to get things setup properly.
so the reason I'm posting here is, the main document ("main.pdf") makes no mention about this step. I'm concerned that I'm missing some importing steps, or looking at the wrong document.
could someone please point me to some instructions for setting up bacula from scratch, for someone who's never worked with it before?
thanks in advance. robert meyer
