It was mentioned in #bacula IRC on freenode that:
"... [] is a php 5.4 feature. s/[]/array()/ on older versions"
I suspect that the minimum requirement of 5.3.7 is a typo on the requirements
page here:

Perhaps the minimum was supposed to be 5.4.7, not 5.3.7?
