Hi.
I've got a very weird thing going on here.
First the components:
- FD on Windows Server 2008, it's 64-bit, first it was version 5.0.3
and upgrading it to 5.2.10 did not make any difference. FD is configured
to use both SSL and encryption.
- SD 1 on FreeBSD-9.0 with ZFS, 32-bit 5.2.12. It's a remote storage
and connection from FD is over WAN.
- SD 2 on FreeBSD-9.0 with ZFS, 64-bit 5.2.12. It's a local storage
and connection from FD is over LAN (different VLAN).
Backups from the Windows FD started running very slow (150-200 KB/s) at
some point. Other backups from the same environment to the same remote
SD run as fast as the remote WAN-connection allows.
I tested these combinations and got such results:
- SSL + encryption + local SD -- fast
- SSL + local SD -- fast
- encryption + local SD -- fast
- encryption + remote SD -- fast
- SSL + remote SD -- slow
- SSL + encryption + remote SD -- slow
It seems that whenever I set FD to use SSL over WAN, the backups start
running low.
Has anyone else experienced something like that?
Any guesses where to look for the problem?
