Hello list.

I need to backup several machines from different networks (VLANs), so to facilitate, I just plugged several network interfaces on my SD and Director server (both are on the same machine), with each interface on a different network with it's own IP address. That is great, because now my FD clients can directly connect with my SD and Director server without even going through a Firewall or a Router.

The problem is that, on bacula-dir.conf, I can only define ONE ip address (or fqdn) for the Storage Daemon, so it really doesn't matter if my SD has multiple address AT ALL. Which is completely weird, because that seems to be a limitation of the SD only, because the Director works really great with multiple address. For example: when I run the "status client" command on bconsole, FD clients from different networks connects to the IP address on Director server that corresponds to it's network.

The most common solution that I found is using a FQDN on the "Address" option of the Storage directive and then use different Views on my DNS server to return a different IP for the same fqdn on different networks. I CAN'T DO THAT. Several of those VLANs are from clients which network I have no control of (I just provide the physical path for them).

My ideal solution which Bacula, apparently, DOES NOT SUPPORT: make the "Address" option on the Storage resource optional, meaning that if not specified, the SD Address that Bacula will send to the FD is the same one that the Director used to connect on the FD on the first place. That would be just awesome...

For now, what's the best solution for my problem? Any thoughts?

Thanks in advance!!!!
