Hi list,

A few months ago we were talking about a problem of compression on LTO-3 device "LTO-3 tape Not Compressing data / premature end of tape space" (http://www.mail-archive.com/bacula-users @ lists .sourceforge.net/msg43952.html).
It appears that the problem was resolved by updating the driver "st. "
In my case I updated the driver to this version, but I'm having the same problem: "in an LTO-3 device with a maximum capacity of 800 GB with compression enabled, only allows me to use 400 GB. "

And another problem I see is the speed of recording is only 11 MB / sec through the Bacula, when I run a Job.
Do not understand why the speed that shows when I run "fill"in the console btape, which the approximately 43 MB / sec and when I run a job is only 11 MB / sec

I have a Centos 5.5
"Device:" HP StorageWorks Ultrium 920 - Tape drive - LTO Ultrium (400 GB / 800 GB) "
scsi-card: HP Smart Array Controller Memory P212/Zero
-tapes: ULTRIUM LTO3, LTO Linear Tape-Open, RW C7973A 800GB

I also added a service in /etc/init.d / to run at startup "stinit. "

I also copied the following information:

#dmesg|grep scsi:
