So it's using LTO-3 drives. It's a strong recommendation (actually an 
IBM standard) with LTO autochangers that they encode the type of the 
artridge / tape into the reported label. See

Either change mtx-changer to strip off the media type trailer (would 
be simple with sed or awk), or - and I would prefer this - change the 
existing names to the newly reported ones.

Two approaches there:
1. relabel volumes when they are purged. This requires manual work.
2. Manually change the volume names in the catalog. This is quickly 
done, but it leaves the volume name on the tapes unchanged, which 
might lead to all sorts of surprises lateron...
