The vast majority of our data backup is handled by Bacula and other backup software  putting stuff on different hard drives. We have a small amount of data that we put on tape and take off site. I’d like to be able to have a secretary walk in on Monday, pull out the old tape and pop in the new tape….no logging in, no nothing. The tape would only get written on Friday night and would stay in there the rest of the week.

I’d like Bacula to basically say “I don’t care what’s in that tape drive, I’m going to write to it”. We recirculate four tapes.

I have read the manual until I am about to croak but all that volume labeling, pools, etc leaves me scratching my head. Any ideas?

Thanks!

Arch
