Hi,
I am using bacula to make daily disk-to-disk backups. Now, I need to
make weekl and yearly tapes. What is the preferred way? The
information should reside on two places, both disk and tape. Those
"snapshot" tapes will be transferred to a physically different
location.
The size of current full backup is around half a terabyte
uncompressed, and everything on disk backups are differential.
The disk backup system is based on serial ata disks (raid5, lacie's
5-big nas), which, i know is a bit unreliable comparing to "real"
storage systems.
About reliability, is smbmount reliable enough for these tasks? Would
I benefit if I chose Apple's protocol (afs, apple file server
protocol)? The machine handling connection between nas and storage
daemon is an ubuntu 8.04 LTS (jeos with -virtual kernel).
