While doing a test on a restore, which I have automated, I got the
following error many times on many files.

9-Sep 14:39 easy6: restore-easy6.2008-09-19_14.00.03 Error:
attribs.c:441 Unable to set file owner
/restores/easy6/home/chcs/asth-sql-icd-3080914.txt: ERR=Operation not
permitted

 

The file was copied but all the files had the owner of root.

 

I did the same test on a different machine, both are Linux, and this did
not happen.  The restore was successful. 

 

I am using Bacula version 2.0.3 on both machines; however, the one with
all the errors had an older kernel 2.4.x and the one with no errors had
kernel 2.6.x

 

Both used a samba mount to mount another Linux box that has a SAN
connected to it.

 

BTW, I also had an error "Cannot make node /dev/ptmx: ERR=Operation not
permitted.
