There is a patch that is making its way to Debian that also may solve the Ubuntu problem.

There's no -N in the smbclient command, perms are OK, the

configured files are being backed up, but errors are generated.

In the following, the new file was correctly added, but due to

errors, backup number stays at 0

Where on the windows 10 machine are you backing up from? (Certain locations have locked down permissions when accessing via share - C:\Users for example. UAC causes issues in these locations. )

Check the smbclient parameters in the configuration. If there’s a “-N” in there – remove it and run backup again. Lemme know if it works.

I can configure and backup a Windows 10 box,
but backuppc thinks it has failed:
'No files dumped', 'Not saving this as a partial backup since it has fewer files ...'

google says I'm not the only one, seems to be related to recent versions of smbclient

Should I be using code from https://github.com/backuppc/backuppc ?
