[BackupPC-users] Boot drive failure recovery options?
2014-12-31 00:53:04
Howdy all,
I've got a hard disk which I used previously for BackupPC storage which
I'd like to restore data from. The original configuration was on Fedora
but the drive the boot partition and OS were on has failed - so all I've
got is the drive I designated for backups. That one I can read just
fine but the odd compression used for the backups has me stumped
regarding how to get the latest full backup contents off the drive. I
have no other linux machines handy (I'm accessing the drive from Windows
using ext2fsd) so installing BackupPC on a different machine, then using
BackupPC_zcat to retrieve all the files (assuming I could get the
scripting right to end up with the original directory structure) will be
problematic.
Is there a way to restore my latest full backup using the Windows
machines I've got handy?
Thanks!
Ed
