This incompatible with the way RRD works.

The known rates during a PDP's "step" interval are used to calculate an average 
rate for that PDP. If the total "unknown" time accounts for more than half the 
"step", the entire PDP is marked as "unknown".

I think it should work if you will power on the BackupPC machine every midnight 
and run BackupPC_rrdUpdate.

I wonder because the last line in the

It's ok. RRDUpdate stores data in RRD with predicted time of next update.
