In case there was doubt, I want to echo this: I
have 6-8 BackupPC servers in production in various places, some for as
much as 5 or 6 years, and they have done their job reliably and well. The
only problems I've ever had with them have turned out to be hardware problems
(failing drives or motherboards). The BackupPC system itself has
never let me down.
My current issue is one of scaling and capacity (and
desire to not simply throw large amounts of hardware at it for the fun
of it), not one of lack of appreciation for the magic that is BackupPC.
The only thing that I wish would not have changed
over the past few years with BackupPC is that I wish Craig Barratt were
still actively involved with the list. His participation is certainly
missed.
