Nominations for SourceForge 2009 Community Choice Awards are open now through May 29.

Please nominate Amanda. You can nominate Amanda for more than one category. Several of them make sense. We have a great project with an awesome group of programmers and a robust community of supporters. Picture the consequences to an Enterprise or Government Agency that doesn't have backup, or that has backup that's not secure. And, of course, a Sysadmin's best friend is an important utility or program that Just Works.

The easiest way to nominate Amanda is to start at the SourceForge Amanda project page http://sourceforge.net/projects/amanda and click on the link to nominate (the little orange robot icon). That will take you to the form and autofill the first two fields with the proper project link and name (it is "Amanda Network Backup").

They count the number of nominations. The top 10 projects in each category are then put on the ballot for voting.

Critical dates are as follows:

   * May 6 - Nominations open
   * May 29 - Nominations close
   * June 22 - Finalists announced, voting opens
   * July 20 - Voting closes
   * July 23 - Winners are announced at OSCON
