Long pathnames can exacerbate the udp issue, too.

It dies after 469 seconds. That doesn't seem to be a data timeout
(dtimeout defaults to 1800 seconds).
But often when you have a "biggish" DLE with lots of excludes, it
can cause tar to be silent for extended periods of time and
trigger a timeout.
