thanks. I'll write a little script to rebuild indexes. I thought the relative path wasn't good enough and date/time stamps were required but not so.

thanks asked question too soon before playing with the other amanda indexes :)

Can I use the listing as the index or is there a neat amanda command to
build the index properly?

You can use that file listing as an index, as thats exactly how Amanda
builds the index.

There's currently no neat amanda command to do this, although it is
planned as part of the Application API (the "reindex" operation).
