Re: Error While Running 'amcheck'

Sure, sorry for leaving that information out!
./configure --with-index-server=ottawa --with-user=amanda
--with-group=amanda --prefix=/usr/local/amanda_2.5.2 --sysconfdir=/etc
And, I did a search for the '.amandahosts' file, and it doesn't seem to
be on my system....
Thanks!

I should probably also say that I'm working with version 2.5.2.
And that I verified the Amanda services are in the /etc/services file.
Would help to show us how you configured amanda.
I'll guess that you use bsdtcp. It's explained in:
http://wiki.zmanda.com/index.php/Configuring_bsd/bsdudp/bsdtcp_authentication
double check that ~amanda/.amandahosts contains the relevent information
and reload/restart inetd after modifying inetd.conf.

Thanks again!

Hello All-
I am running into another issue while running 'amcheck' on one of my
sets; I've checked msg boards and the wiki for the answer to this, but
I'm still not sure where the problem is.
The error is on the client (which is the same machine as the server):
WARNING: ottawa: selfcheck request failed: timeout waiting for ACK.
I've verified that the following items are in my inetd.conf file and
that the paths are correct:
amandaidx stream tcp nowait amanda /usr/local/amanda/libexec/ amindexd
amidxtape stream tcp nowait amanda /usr/local/amanda/libexec/ amidxtaped
amanda dgram udp wait amanda /usr/local/amanda/libexec/ amandad
Any ideas on what the problem(s) may be and how I can go about
correcting this?
Thanks for your time and expertise!
