Has this gotten any better for pre and post dump programs e.gm 'database stop/start?'. In that its currently documented as of 2.4.5 there is no direct support to run a program before or after a backup on a client.

Its refered to as a gnutar-wrapper (./configure ... --with-gnutar=/usr/local/bin/amgtar ...

Hoping his has been addressed in this new release tree 2.5.x?
