Yes it is a know problem and it is fixed an 2.5.1 and later.
If I do an amcheck with the wrong tape in I get

As you can see it gives me 0 problems found and thus "amcheck -m" does not mail
out when there is the wrong tape in the drive.
I did not have this problem with 2.4
