I have a very weird problem with my amanda system, that maybe others
may be able to help. Here's my issue:
I have a server and two clients. The server and one client are
RedHat 9, while the other client is RHEL 4. The problem I'm having
is with the two RH9 boxes. The server had been doing a check (which returns
okay), and doing a weekly backup as normal. Two weeks ago, in the backup
report, I noticed a "timeout waiting for REP" from the RH9 client, but the
disk was backed up no problem. This past week, the check ran, and
detected no problem. Then, with the backup report, I got a "timeout waiting
for ACK", and no backup was done on the disk. Since then, I've been
running amcheck manually to see if the client can be reached, and I continue
to get a timeout error. (The RHEL 4 client has not had any problems, is
being backed up, and contacted with every amcheck.)
The server and the client in question are directly connected via
second ethernet jacks and a crossover cable. There are no port
errors (that I can find) on the private ethernet. The machines have not
been rebooted in over 40 days, and there has been no changes to
either configuration (once it was working correctly, I didn't touch it
again).
I orginally did my set-up in December, and it's worked since then without
any problems. I went through all the steps for the timeout errors, and it
should work (according to those). These two machines are both runing
amanda-2.5.0b1-20051205.
Does anyone have any ideas what may have happened and what I can do to
fix it? Maybe some pointers to put me into the right direction?
