But how do you restore? By restoring DLE image from a "full dump" and applying incrementals(with amrecover) later on, isn't it?
It depends on what you wish to restore. A full restore, yes, that's what
you'd need to do. However, for individual files / directories, you can
use amrecover to help figure out what tapes are needed to get the data
back from a certain date.
