It actually wrote 1GB to the tape before it got an error.  Did it die
at the same spot before you replaced the tape?  Check your system logs
for SCSI or other errors.

I think the 'NO FILE TO FLUSH' is misleading, it started with /u20 but
since it got an error it never tried the rest.
