Hi everyone,

It makes sense that before recovering from a real tape, the tape has to be rewound. But for backup to disk (tapeless), the "tape" is just a file on hard disk, why does amanda
require it to be rewound??

Recovery works, but rewinding the "tapes" gives unpleasant error messages as follows: DailySet4/data/00001.server._home.1 rewind failed: Inappropriate ioctl for device

After that error message, the recovery goes on as normal. Without rewinding "tape", it will
complain with EOF stuff.

Has anyone ever found out why??

how is your tapedev specified in your amanda.conf?
