uups, here it comes:
the machines run under sles7 with reiser fs. the error message i got is 
something like this

ERROR: server.any-host.de: [can not access /data/any-directory/exports/home.nis 
(/data/any-directory/exports/home.nis): Permission denied]
ERROR: server.any-host.de: [can not access /data/any-directory/etc 
(/data/any-directory/etc): Permission denied]
ERROR: server.any-host.de: [can not access /data/any-directory/log 
(/data/any-directory/log): Permission denied]
Client check: 2 hosts checked in 0.028 seconds, 3 problems found

the data directory has 770 and the any-directory 700 rights. 
i also tried to run amcheck under root but amanda returned the smae results.

Errm,
Can you give us a bit more information about what os,  filesystem.....
what exactly you want to do and how it is failing?
none of us can read your mind or your logs without having acces to 
them.... ;-)
