amanda 2.4.3 compiles fine for me on Mac OS X (10.2.4), while 2.4.4 does 
not. Not urgent, but thought I should report it somewhere. Details:

Configured with

 ./configure --with-user=amanda --with-group=wheel 
--prefix=/usr/local --without-server --with-config='backupset' 
--with-gnutar=/usr/local/hfstar/bin/tar

Make fails almost immediately with:
