First of all, welcome!

If you can make the tape drive and box move, Amanda should be able to
as well. Amanda is all user level code, so tape drives are hardly ever
a problem. Most robots are SCSI, which has either direct Amanda support
or you can use a package called mtx. Either are pretty well supported.

Have you looked through "the chapter"? See the bottom of the main
www.amanda.org web page. The FAQ mentioned on that same page is another
good source, although it needs some serious cleanup.

You've already done the best thing to get help by signing up for this
list. A **lot** of new user questions go by here and the group has some
really good folks who put a lot of effort into getting people started.
When you bang into something (and you probably will :-), see if you
can find the answer in the FAQ or mailing list archives, but if you
can't, just post the details and someone here will help you through it.
Make sure you mention what version of Amanda you're using, what platform
you're running it on, and the **exact** text of the error message(s)
you're seeing.
