I agree with Joshua about the path out of this (use 2.4.3).  However, if
you have not removed the offending stuff yet, could you at least get us a
debugger stack traceback so the problem can be fixed in the development
code branch?  Just start gdb on the amcheck binary and the core file
and enter "bt".  You may have to do this as root since amcheck is setuid.

You might also look through the mailing list for the last few weeks.
There have been some memory management bugs fixed recently post-2.4.3.
