Jean-Louis - please accept my apologies for implying that you would leave
such a hole. I did read in passing somewhere about amdd and ammt but I had
forgotten about them. When I started testing with the file: driver I was
using a copy of 2.4.3b4 which I built and installed in /usr/local and sure
enough there they were - /usr/local/sbin/am{mt,dd}. However, as I got
further in my testing I wanted to install 2.4.3b4 as an RPM so I built an
RPM. I used a modified version of the spec file from SuSE's delivery of
2.4.2p2 but unfortunately it wasn't modified enough - I forgot to add ammt
amd amdd into the files section of the spec file.
The result of this was that by the time I had started to use amverify I
didn't have ammt and amdd in amanda's path which led to me making a fool of
myself :-(
Before I make a fool of myself again, are there any other new programs built
between 2.42.p2 and 2.4.3b4 ?
Kindest regards,
Niall O Broin
