20% over the active log size seems to be a good idea.

What I found today is a correlation with our nas backup script. This is a 
fairly long but simple script that runs four ’backup node’ commands in 
parallel, and that say 20 times over to backup all 80 NAS volumes. On nights 
where the log starts filling it turns out that this script only starts 3 out of 
4 backup node commands. The 4th never really starts, but I guess that there are 
some things that do get done, like starting a db transaction at some level to 
start that command. The admin schedule for the NAS backup remains in ’started’ 
state, but no apparent processes going on….
