Hi Rob,

we’ve got the 7.1.1.100 version of the OC installed and I use it almost on a
daily basis.

I think the most prominent features I’d add now are first of all an interface
to manage storage (devlasses, pools, libraries, paths, drives etc.) and
secondly client software management (upgrade, deinstall, maybe even install)
Install should not be too complicated in a windows domain… I understand that
things are more complicated in other settings like Unix like incl. Mac and
Windows servers outside the windows domain. Maybe one could consider a
stand-alone tool that can be run to install the TSM software from a TSM server
as long as server connectivity is possible, where you only need to enter the
TSM server ip-address and port number to fetch the required packages, but that
would be outside the scope of the OC I guess.

Also, though I’ve just decommissioned the last one, management of storage
agents… both regarding the storage aspect as well as the software installation
would be nice.

Another thing I would change is incorporate the number of available scratch
volumes in the library when reporting on the usage percentage of a storage
pool, usually this number is smaller than maxscratch. Of course this only
applies to VTL or physical tape.
