Also don't use flashcopy manager. Could it have been that I used the wrong 
option when restoring? " Replay restored AND current logs"

This looks like APAR IC87463.
You should apply the latest version of
Data Protection for Exchange as there have been a number of important fixes 
related to mailbox restore.
