I have done several library moves, mostly virtual and all primary pools. Are
these primary pools?

This is about what I did for the last move. I may have forgotten a step or 2,
it was 2 years ago.

1. add new library and drives
2. point next storage pool to the new library (I did one pool then 3 days later
I did the rest)
3. start backup stg of new pools to existing copy pools.
4. Stop reclaims and backup stg on old library (you could reclaim to new pools)
5. Run move data on tapes in old library to new library.
        a. I ordered the tapes from oldest to newest. The theory being (right
or wrong) the oldest tapes contain data that is persistent and if I bunched it
together I would have less to reclaim in the future. You should make up your
own order and reason.

Copy tape is a bit different. Mostly I run dual backup stg until the new copy
pool has the data then stop the backup stg to the old copy pool and delete the
tapes a day or 2 later.

ADSM-L mailing list,

I've been tasked with the project to move our backup storage from our IBM ATL
with 3592J1A drives/tapes to a new Quantum Scalar i500 with LTO-6 drives/tapes.

Any pointers?

Thanks, Troy
