Thank you very much for information.
We are using TSM server 6.3.3 under AIX 7.1-01-06. I hope known bug due to SCSI
Persistent Reserve is not suitable for us.
I am sorry for too general questions. I have used HELP DEFINE LIBRARY on old
TSM Server 5.5.6 instead of 6.3.3......

Hi Grigori,

It is generally advised to use IBM TS3500 emulation for the library instead STK
L180 when using it with TSM.

Defining the VTL and drives to TSM is quite common (define library, define
path, define drive...).

Be sure to specify RELABELSCRATCH=YES when defining the library.

You also can use the new library type VTL (instead of SCSI).

Please see these technotes :
http://www-01.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg21425849
http://www-01.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?rs=663&uid=swg21587515

Be aware that the is a know bug with DataDomain VTL if your TSM server is Linux
due to SCSI Persistent Reserve (new for Linux Server in TSM 6.3). There is a
know workaround which consists in disabling persistent reserve with a server
option : persistentreserve off

Objet: [ADSM-L] Data Domain VTL definition in TSM 6.3.3

Trying to understand how to define Data Domain VTLs (STK-L180 with IBM LTO 3
drives) in TSM Server 6.3.3...........
Using TSM help and searching Internet does not give suitable results. There is
detailed EMC White Paper for TSM/DataDomain planning, but it contains only
definitions for NFS-pools, not for VTL.
Could somebody give me some links to documentation?
