The tape drive mapping utility now includes fully integrated support for 
ACSLS-attached libraries. The utility does not rely on TSM's API for 
communications to ACSLS and can be run on a system where TSM is not present.

That is correct, you should first cease all mount activity on the system where 
you run the utility. If you do not do this, I/O can be interrupted on the local 
system where the utility is being run.

In a shared drive environment you can use the utility even when drives are in 
use by other initiators in the environment.

But be aware that this script warns that it interrupts active I/O and should 
not be run when tape processing is occurring.
