Andy,

What I am saying is that the DSM.OPT in use (pointed to by the query of
the scheduling service) does not have anything in it to point the dsmsched
and dsmerror logs to the F:\ tsmlogs drive/directory.  So, why is it using
that directory?  Is this location buried somewhere in the registry?

Plus, the systemstate backups still fail.  Now that we can find the
dsmerror.log file,   what stood out was this error:

07/24/2011 22:44:42 ANS1705E System Writers 'system writer'  do not exist.
07/24/2011 22:44:42 ANS5283E The operation was unsuccessful.

Hi Zoltan,

I am not sure what you are telling me. Are you saying the f:\tsmlogs
directory is empty, or the log files therein contain no data?

If you define the schedule with the log and error file names explicitly
configured, e.g., via the /schedlog and /errorlog dsmcutil options, then
changes to dsm.opt are not necessary for the scheduler to log data to the
specified log locations.

If someone runs the backup-archive client outside of the scheduler service
using the same node as the scheduler (DOGWOOD), then messages will be
logged to the default location (..\baclient). For example, the interactive
command line or GUI client; or "dsmc sched"; or another scheduler service.
