The backup is getting the return code=12, The only other messages I see is
files failed to backup I don't think that is causing the return code.

The ANS1417W is a warning message, which would cause the backup to end with
a status of "successful" and "return code 8". This return code means that
TSM was able get through the backup operation, but one or more warning
messages were issued which should be investigated. It can also mean that
files were skipped.
A failed backup ends with return code 12, and is marked as "failed" in the
TSM events table (like what you would see if you do "query event"). So if
indeed it is failing with return code 12 then I imagine something else is
going on.
