Hi,

I'm about to perform a complete DR test with a Windows 2008 R2 cluster
running a MSSQL server 2008 R2.

On this MS cluster TSM B/A client version 6.2.2.0 and TDP for MSSQL
version 5.5.5,0 is installed, configured and working well.

First scenario is to destroy one cluster node and try to get it back to
the cluster. Therefore I have checked a couple of things and found
something which I'm not sure how it's working. In this Win2008 R2
cluster here is the cluster software and configuration stored under
C:\WNDOWS\CLUSTER.

There are subdirectories and files below C:\WINDOWS\CLUSTER. For those I
have now checked their availability for restore with the TSM B/A
client's restore function and was surprised. On file system level there
are directories 'C:\WINDOWS\CLUSTER\en' and 'C:\WINDOWS\CLUSTER\en-US'
and files in both subdirectories, but the TSM B/A client only displays
the directories, no files are being displayed for restore. IN
'C:\WINDOWS\CLUSTER\Reports' all is fine, I can see in the restore
window the same as on file system level. The same is on
'C:\WINDOWS\CLUSTER', where most of the files cannot be seen in the
restore window. Common to all 'missed' files under 'C:\WINDOWS\CLUSTER_
is that those are DLL's.

I guess that all the files I'm missing form 'C:\WINDOWS\CLUSTER' are
part of the system state backup, but how can I verify that? And what
decides that some dll's are part of the file system backup and others
are part of the system state backup?

Any information that helps 'to see daylight' is welcome.

Best regards,

Rainer
