I recently had an issue where I could not see my archives in the GUI. It
turned out that the GUI used to archive the data what newer that the GUI
that I was using to search. I upgraded the TSM client and was able to see
the archives. Hope this helps.

We have some archives that are missing. I am having difficulties
understanding how they could be gone from TSM.

The client is Red Hat Linux, TSM client version 5.5 server is TSM 6.2.

I know that the archive had an expiration date of 2017, so they should
not have expired. Management class archive retention is set to 2555
days.

I remember having to destroy some volumes because of tape read/write
errors. Is it possible I could have destroyed the only volume that had
this archive then TSM removed any reference to that archive?

The only way I know to check for these archives is either on the client
through the GUI, or on the server with a q occupancy command.

Assuming the archive was destroyed along with a volume, shouldn't there
be a reference to the archive in the database somewhere?

Maybe I should be asking how to find out what filespaces are on a volume
so I know if I can destroy it or not. Does anyone have a query for
finding the filespaces on a volume?

And thanks in advance for taking the time to think about this.
