I'm installing a Spectralogic T950 with 14 LTO5 drives next week.
I'll let you know if I have the same issues.

I have a customer that is running 6 LTO-5 drives in a 3310 using IBM
LTO5 media. They have had many issues with LTO5. In the past 6
months, they have replaced 4 drives mostly due to stuck tapes.
Several engineering firmwares have been added, and they are now
finally able to eject tapes more consistently.

I would say that this customer is not happy with the transition at
this point (LTO3 previously). They run an HSM environment, and tapes
getting stuck in the drives prevents restores of their HSM data. This
makes unhappy doctors.

I know that they sent at least 2 of their drives to IBM with a tape
still stuck in it to perform diagnostics. I really have never seen
anything like this in the 10+ years I've been doing TSM.

If you have not upgraded to the latest firmware, make sure you do so.
