Hi Rainer

I run the command: ldd /opt/tivoli/tsm/client/ba/bin/dsmagent

And see that libstdc++.so.5 => not found !!!!!

By the way is a 32 Bit Ubuntu I double check with uname -a Linux Ubuntu
2.6.32-24-generic #42-Ubuntu I686 GNU/Linux

I did what you suggest to download libstdc++5 for 32 bit systems and to copy
the missing library

Alleluia is working!!!!

Thank you very much I learn a lot...

Have a nice day

Robert

Hi Robert,

does dsmj write a log file (dsmj.log)? If so, is there any useful message in
it?

One thing to try: locate the dsmagent binary and check that it finds all
required libraries, e.g

 ldd /opt/tivoli/tsm/client/ba/bin/dsmagent

Is this a 64bit Ubuntu?

I remember that at one time I had problems to run dsmagent on 64bit Ubuntu
because it needed a 32bit compatibility version of libstdc++5. Ubuntu 10.04 has
either a 64bit version of it or a 32bit version of the more recent libstdc++6.

My solution was to download the libstdc++5 for 32 bit systems, unpack it
manually and copy the missing library file to /usr/lib32.

  Rainer
